Exhibition Renewal Starting April 12
Apr 7, 2026
Thank you for your continued patronage of COMICO ART MUSEUM YUFUIN.
We are pleased to announce that our museum exhibits will be undergoing renovations.
This renovation will add seven representative works by world-renowned contemporary artist Lee Ufan to our permanent collection, marking the first time we have featured works by an international artist. In addition, we will be showcasing for the first time valuable, previously unexhibited works by Yayoi Kusama, Yoshitomo Nara, and Takashi Murakami, whose works are already on permanent display at our museum.
Author Profile: Lee Ufan
Born in 1936 in Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, Lee Ufan came to Japan in 1956 and is a contemporary artist who is active internationally from his base in Japan. He is an emeritus professor at Tama Art University. From the late 1960s, he attracted international attention as a theoretical pillar of "Mono-ha," a leading movement in postwar Japanese art. Respecting the existence of materials such as stone, iron plates, and canvas, and minimizing arbitrary expression by the artist, he creates a series of works that focus on themes such as "encounter," "relationships," and "negative space." In 2010, the "Lee Ufan Museum" opened on Naoshima Island (Kagawa Prefecture).
